Introduction
The Harpy Eagle is one of the world's largest and most powerful of the fifty species of eagles. In the past it was observed from the South of Mexico through to Central and South America and all the way down to the northern rain forests of Argentina. Presently the Harpy Eagle is near extinction and biologists have been unable to find them. The Harpy Eagle has a distinct appearance, an over-sized beak, Grizzly Bear sized claws, dark gray feathers, tail, head, light gray feathered feet, a white underside and a head similar to that of an owl. Harpy Eagles have been known to grow up to a meter long, weigh up to eight kilograms, have a wing span of over two meters, and live up to 30-40 years in captivity compared to the wild (25-35).
